Job Summary:

Automotive Technicians are responsible for diagnosing problems with vehicles, performing maintenance, and repairs on our client’s cars that come in for service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Diagnoses, maintains, and repairs vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical steering, suspension, brakes, and air conditioning;
  • Performs work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership and manufacturer standards;
  • Performs maintenance procedure, including oil changes, fluid level checks, tire rotations, etc.;
  • Tests components and systems using diagnostic tools and special service equipment;
  • Provide an estimate of the time needed for additional repairs;
  • Executes repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications;
  • Suggest other services or repairs as necessary;
  • Performs test drives as needed;
  • State-regulated vehicle inspections;
  • Communicates directly with the Service Advisor and/or Service Dispatcher so that customers can be informed if any additional service is needed;
  • Performs other related duties consistent with the role; this does not preclude management from assigning additional, though unrelated, duties.
Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of automotive systems, diagnostic tools, and repair techniques;
  • Effective problem-solving skills are crucial for diagnosing and repairing vehicle issues;
  • Ability to work in a team environment efficiently;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Excellent time management skills;
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.

Required Education / Experience / Certifications:

  • Valid Driving License and acceptable Driving Record History;
  • Acceptable Background Record;
  • Strong understanding of automotive systems, diagnostic tools, and repair techniques;
  • Current ASE certification, or ability to attain certification.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects like engines, transmissions, tires, parts, etc. (up to 50 pounds);
  • Fine motor skills, such as manipulating small parts, using hand tools, and working with precision;
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, and climb to access various parts of a vehicle;
  • Visual acuity for identifying problems, reading gauges, and working with small parts;
  • Extended periods of standing, walking, and reaching.
