Automation Engineer | Whitehall, MI

Salary Range: $86,000 - $131,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement automation solutions for manufacturing processes.
• Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial robots.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with automated equipment and control systems.
• Optimize existing automation systems for improved efficiency, quality, and throughput.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams on automation projects.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for automation systems and procedures.
• Ensure all automation solutions comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Recommended Qualifications

• Expertise in PLC programming (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens) and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in HMI/SCADA system design, development, and integration.
• Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP/IP).
• Experience with industrial robotics, motion control systems, or servo drives.
• Knowledge of industrial sensors, actuators, and instrumentation.
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex automation system issues in a manufacturing environment.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with advanced robotics, machine vision, or complex material handling systems.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate operational technology (OT) data with enterprise IT systems or cloud platforms.
• Certification or experience in OT/ICS cybersecurity best practices.
