Automation Engineer | Mattawan, MI

Salary Range: $77,000 - $122,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and program PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for manufacturing processes.
• Integrate and commission industrial robots, vision systems, and other automated equipment.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex issues within automation and control systems.
• Optimize existing automated processes to improve efficiency, throughput, and product quality.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for all automation solutions.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams on automation projects.
• Ensure all automation systems adhere to safety standards and industry regulations.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley), HMI/SCADA development, and industrial networking protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profinet).
• Hands-on experience with industrial robots (e.g., Fanuc, Kuka, ABB) and machine vision systems.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex automation systems and optimize manufacturing processes.
• Experience with project lifecycle management, from design and commissioning to maintenance and upgrades in a manufacturing environment.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with industrial robotics (e.g., FANUC, KUKA, ABB) programming and integration.
• Proficiency in industrial vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence) for inspection and guidance.
• Familiarity with data analytics platforms (e.g., Python, SQL, Power BI) for manufacturing data.
• Understanding of industrial network architecture and OT cybersecurity best practices.
• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification/experience applied to automation projects.
